Dear Miramar College Faculty,
We have received several inquiries regarding whether classroom faculty with Flex obligations are required to report to campus on January 18th. The short answer is an unequivocal “no.”
The Board approved Academic Calendar in addition to the District’s published Flex Handbook make it clear that classroom faculty with a flex obligation are not required to report to campus (or be available for virtual meetings or assignments) until January 26th. Please see both documents attached. This consistent practice has been in existence for over two decades.
While faculty are certainly free to voluntarily report to work prior to January 26th, there is no obligation to do so and you should not feel any pressure to do so.
If you are feeling pressured to report to work prior to January 26th, please let me know right away.
Non-classroom faculty without a Flex obligation will continue to follow their previously assigned work schedule.
