Tell President Biden, Secretary Cardona, and the Department of Education to eliminate student debt for those who have worked a decade or more serving their community. Congress created the PSLF program 14 years ago to alleviate the burden of student debt for dedicated public service workers. The idea was simple: work in public service for ten years and have your remaining student debt forgiven. Unfortunately, this promise has been denied at every turn. How bad is it? 98% of PSLF applicants have been denied loan forgiveness. Mismanagement and abuse by student loan companies has left hundreds of thousands deeper in debt and blocked access to PSLF for those with older federal loans.
