Stand in Solidarity with Preuss Teachers 12/16-12/17

Dear AFT Guild Member Colleagues,

Over the coming year, we will be standing in solidarity with our K-12 and Higher Ed union siblings across San Diego as many unions prepare for strikes.

One urgent and important 2-day Unfair Labor Practice Strike is happening next week.

UC-AFT teachers at the UCSD Preuss School are going out on a 2-day ULP strike Tues-Wed December 16-17.

The picket lines will be 8am-4pm at:
The Preuss School UC San Diego
9600 Campus Point Drive, La Jolla, CA 92037
*Corner of Campus Point & Voigt Drive
Trolley goes right to the campus

There will be rallies at noon both days.

Preuss teachers and counselors have been bargaining their contract for over a year, and have filed a ULP over UC management’s bad faith tactics in bargaining and mediation. Preuss has 100% membership and voted 100% to strike! They are a small unit of about 40 folks, so we hope to bolster their picket lines and show solidarity.

The UC campus ends their term this week so it’s important other union siblings join them on the picket line to bring numbers, energy and support to this very organized and unified group of incredible teachers!

If you aren’t aware of the Preuss School, their mission is to prepare every student on their campus to go to college. Low income students who live across the county attend Preuss. All of them are the first in their family to go on to college. These teachers work a longer school day and a longer school year and are some of the absolute best educators in our state.

I hope to see you out on the lines next week!

In Solidarity,
