Paid Phone Bank/Precinct Walk Opportunities Available in Mayor’s Race

Dear Colleagues,

We will be hiring students and other friends of labor for a paid internship working to help elect a progressive Mayor for the City of San Diego.  If you have students, friends, or family members, who would like to help elect David Alvarez as the next Mayor of San Diego, they will be a part of a team helping to ensure we elect someone who will fight for the working families of San Diego, not someone beholden to the downtown business interests that have historically run this city.

AFT is hiring interns for the mayoral race to help on phone banks and with precinct walks.  We will provide the training and will be paying $14/hour for this work.  We are looking for self motivated, outgoing, and preferably bilingual Spanish/English (although not mandatory) workers.   The interns we choose will be those who can most effectively communicate and are genuinely interested in this effort, not just looking to get paid.

So if you know someone who wants to learn about politics from the ground up and is willing to work hard for a good cause, please have them contact AFT Guild Political Action VP Jim Miller miller229@earthlink.net to arrange for an interview no later than September 19th.  Interviews will be held on September 20th at the AFT office in Mission Valley.

Applicants need to be available from 4-8 PM on several weeknights as well as on Saturday mornings for precinct walks AND should be enthusiasticabout working for a labor union.

Please direct all questions and correspondence to AFT Guild Political Action VP Jim Miller at miller229@earthlink.net.
