Many Ways You Can Help Ensure Victory in November!

Dear Colleagues,

As you are well aware, the election season is well underway with mail ballots due to arrive at voters’ homes next week.  Our election recommendations can be found here.

One question I get asked all the time is “Jim, please tell me, how can I help us win in November?”

Well, I’m glad you asked!  Here are the many ways you can help us ensure victory come November 6th:

1)  STUDENT VOTER REGISTRATION  We have hired several student interns to make presentations to encourage students to register and vote.  You can help by clicking here and requesting sets of voter registration cards and/or AFT student intern visits to your classroom or worksite meeting to ensure we register all of our students to vote.  The presentations will be completely non-partisan, our student interns have been trained not to advocate the support or defeat of any ballot measure or candidate.  Please help us ensure we obtain a record number of new registrants by clicking here today!  You can also alert your students, friends, and family members that you can now register to vote completely online here.

2)  PHONE BANKING  We can always use more volunteers to help us with phone banking.  We are calling high propensity friendly voters Monday-Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am-3:00pm at our AFT office in Mission Valley.  You will be given a script and training.  We are mostly focusing on Propositions 30 and 32, and the San Diego Mayor’s race for those voters who live in the city.  Please click here to sign up for phone banking!

3) YARD SIGNS  We finally have yard signs available for Propositions 30/32/Filner for Mayor and Marne Foster for SD Unified if you live in San Diego, Propositions 30/32/V (GCCCD Bond) if you live in East County, and simply 30/32 if you live elsewhere.  Find out how to get your yard sign by clicking here!

Thanks in advance for your participation!  There is a lot at stake this November.  Please do your part to help us ensure victory and improve the educational climate in California!

In Unity,

Jim
