Subject: Letter to President Elect Trump regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
Date: November 29, 2016 at 10:48:49 AM PST
Dear Colleagues,
Today the California Community Colleges joined with the University of California and California State University in formally asking President-elect Donald Trump to preserve DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Our three systems have thousands of DACA students studying at our colleges and universities. The letter, signed by incoming Chancellor Oakley, makes clear that these students should not be punished for the actions of others and that they should be able to pursue their dream of higher education without fear of being deported. And, it bears repeating, that all three systems of public higher education in California are deeply committed to keeping our colleges and universities safe and welcoming places for ALL students to learn.
