In conjunction with the City of San Diego Public Library’s “California Labor History” exhibition, actor Ian Ruskin will perform the one-man play “From Wharf Rats to Lord of the Docks” on April 2 at 1 p.m. in the third floor auditorium of the Central Library, 820 E St. in downtown San Diego. Written by Ruskin, the play follows the true story of labor leader Harry Bridges, who founded the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. A question and answer session will follow. The event is free.
Ruskin, founder of the Harry Bridges Project, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and has worked extensively in theater, television and film. The American Federation of Teachers will host a reception immediately following the program.
