INVITATION: Webinar on the Experiences of Black Professionals in Higher Education (02/23/2023)

Dear Colleagues,

We’re inviting you and your colleagues to join AFT and the AAUP for a capstone Black History Month event—a 90-minute webinar conversation about the contemporary experiences of Black professionals in higher education on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 1 pm ET.

We’re currently living through a period of state-sanctioned backlash towards African-Americans and people in other marginalized communities. At the same time, political attacks on our colleges and universities prevent, or imperil, equitable access to higher education for these same communities.

In a candid conversation with AFT and AAUP members, we’ll explore how these forces are being experienced in the higher education workplace, how the politics of white supremacy affect and interact with ongoing issues for higher education professionals, and how our unions and professional organizations can support our Black members on campus and off.

Please register today for this conversation!  https://aft.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_8Vm62IbsQd2IUronE-4sOw
