I Am My Union Solidarity Campaign and General Meeting Kickoff 11/05

Dear AFT Guild Colleagues,

What does it mean to you when you say “I Am My Union”?
What does it mean to you when you say “I Stand in Solidarity with My Colleagues?”

These are just a couple of questions we want to know the answers to as we kick off our “I Am My Union” Solidarity Campaign.

We want to take time to re-center ourselves, think about our colleagues, faculty and classified professionals, to consider our strength as a union.

Solidarity is an active word, it is the force that moves history forward. It means standing together when the odds are stacked against us, refusing to let anyone fight alone and recognizing that when one of us is exploited, the rights of all of us are at risk. We often forget the struggles and challenges that have gotten us to where we are today, a thriving union with strong contracts and countless rights for our members.

To make a visible show of solidarity, we are asking that members wear their AFT Guild Union shirts and/or “I Am My Union” button every Thursday that we hold a general Union membership meeting starting on Thursday, November 5th at Mesa College MC-211.

Remaining AFT Guild Meeting Dates:
December 3rd at City College
February 4th at North City Campus
March 4th at Miramar College
April 8th at Mesa College
May 6th at Harbor View Campus

Mark your calendar for our kickoff on Thursday, November 5th and join us in-person or on zoom for our AFT Guild General Union Meeting at Mesa College. If you don’t have an AFT T-shirt or an “I am My Union” button, you can grab them at our meeting!

We can’t wait to see you soon!

In Solidarity,

AFT Guild Executive Council Members
