Prop C Outsourcing Before City Council Dec. 5

Act Now to Preserve Health-Care Coverage for City Workers!

Next Tuesday, the San Diego City Council will consider the implementation ordinance for the Proposition C outsourcing measure. Now’s the time to let the Council know that cutting workers’ health benefits is the wrong way to solve the city’s financial challenges. Here are two ways we can urge protections that preserve health-care coverage for city workers:

1. Write letters to the City Council to voice your opinion, using this sample letter <http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker&cmd=track&j=109240411&u=1042205> .

2. Attend the City Council hearing, currently scheduled for:

Tuesday, December 5, 2006
2:00 p.m.
City Council Chambers
202 C St., 12th Floor, San Diego, CA 92101

Solving our city’s financial troubles on the backs of city workers is a short-sighted solution that is not only unfair, but economically unwise. More city residents will be uninsured, increasing costs for all of us to cover unpaid hospital visits and public services. The quality of city services will deteriorate as decent jobs become poverty jobs and employee turnover escalates.

Thank you in advance for attending the hearing and writing letters!
