Subject: Black History Month Activities for this week.
Greetings Mesa Community,
Just a quick reminder of what’s happening for Black History Month this week.
Please remind students of the four Black History Month events happening this week ( Feb 16-Feb 20) and consider offering them credit. See the BHM Calendar for event links: http://www.sdmesa.edu/academics/schools-departments/black-studies/black-history-month.shtml
- A) Today Wednesday, February 17th Agents of Change (Film) and Director’s Talk Back with Director Frank Dawson (11-12:30pm) will talk with us after the documentary, sharing insights on what was happening at the time and how Black Students changed the culture of American Higher Education forever. This is a must see event for those interested in understanding the role of Black Studies as the first established Ethnic Studies program in Higher Education.
- B) Wednesday, February 17th – PBS Special on the Black Church Part 1 (Documentary) – https://www.pbs.org/show/black-church/
- C) Friday, February 19th – Black Faculty, Staff & Admin Unity Gathering 12:00-1:30pm (See BHM calendar for zoom link)
- D) Saturday, February 20th Ask Your Mama: Langston Hughes Project 6:00-8:00pm (See BHM for Zoom Link) BLAS Faculty participate in Panel discussion.
