AFT Sponsored SDCCD FLEX Week Activities

Dear SDCCD Faculty Colleagues,
I’m writing to let you know about some new events and workshops your union has planned for you during Spring Flex Week.

For starters, we will be holding our all-faculty luncheon and meeting on Friday, January 20th, from 12:00-1:30 in the City College student cafeteria (Activity #65802).  All faculty (contract and adjunct) are invited to attend.  Come and have a great lunch, in addition to hearing the latest news regarding upcoming negotiations, local union activities, the District and State budget situation, and how it will affect us in the future.  This session will repeat at ECC on January 30th at 12:00.

We will be holding a panel presentation on “Tricks of the Trade” to help you in the classroom at Miramar College on Wednesday, January 18th from 2:00-3:30 in room J224-225 (Activity #65597) and at Mesa College on Thursday, January 19th from 3:30-5:00 in room G-104 (Activity #65384).

We will also be sponsoring a CalSTRS Retirement Planning and Q&A Workshop at City College on Friday, January 20th from 10:30-12:00 in room B-202 (Activity #65801).

And last but not least, we will be holding a Stop Workplace Bullying session on Monday, January 30th from 1:45-3:15 at ECC in room 77.

All faculty are encouraged to attend all workshops at any site.  Please see the attached flyer and online Flex registration calendar http://www.sdccd.edu/employee/facwebsrv.shtml for more information on each of these presentations.  (College faculty wanting credit for attending the CE events, and vice-versa, will have to submit the activity as an independent project as the two flex systems are not linked.)  We hope you will find all of the above activities worthwhile and informative.

I look forward to seeing all of you at these upcoming sessions!
In Unity,

Jim Mahler, President
