AFT Racial/Police Safety Committee

Dear AFT Guild Members,

Two years ago our AFT Guild formed a task force to address the issues of racial equity for the safety of our students, members of the community, and law enforcement. The committee has been chaired by Pegah Motaleb, AFT Guild Executive Council Member and Professor of English at Mesa College.

The goal of this committee is to bring together AFT Guild members from all areas within our membership, including those who teach or work in the police and corrections training programs, to help devise potential solutions as to how we can contribute our knowledge and expertise in an effort to bring peace to our communities.

We have had some attrition over the past two years and would like to increase the membership of this committee.  If you are interested in serving please click here and submit the short application form.  The task force meets one Friday  per month from 1:00-2:30 at the AFT Office in Mission Valley.  (Classified Professionals are eligible for union release time to attend the meetings.)

In Unity,

Jim
