AFT May Day a Rousing Success!!!

Dear Colleagues,

Many thanks to all of you and your students who participated in our May Day events yesterday!  Many classified staff and faculty with their students turned out at both the respective campus events and for the Big Rally and March at City College in the afternoon!  All told, nearly 2,000 AFT supporters participated in these events!

This was due to the exceptional organizational work done by our AFT site representatives at each of their respective campuses.  They all deserve many thanks!

We were very impressed with the level of activism and involvement demonstrated at each campus.  Our line-up of speakers was exceptional at every location, and I believe the students who attended these events learned a great deal regarding the significance of May Day, and the need for unity among workers.

It’s this type of solidarity and activism that will be essential for us to draw upon as we fight back against the continued attacks on unions and public education.  Your collective participation was heartening, and truly painted a clear picture as to what Solidarity really looks like.

Below are some photos of this action.  More to come later.

In Solidarity and Gratitude,

Jim
