Dear AFT Guild GCCCD Members,
I’m pleased to report that as a result of negotiations that lasted throughout the weekend, we have reached a successful conclusion and tentative agreement with the District!
The highlights of this settlement include:
- 6.85% Increase to all Tenured/Tenure-Track Salary Schedules (effective and retroactive to 07/01/2023)
- 7.25% Increase to all Adjunct/Overload Salary Schedules (effective and retroactive to 07/01/2023)
- One-time off-schedule payment of 3% of total gross earnings earned during the period 01/01/24-06/30/24 (including new rates from above)
All retroactive payments to be made no later than the October 2024 payroll period. - Negotiations to continue on all other items pending future apportionment funding availability.
- No additional economic items will be funded prior to 06/30/25.
- Continuation of the Adjunct Office Hours and Healthcare Programs provided there is no substantive change in the State reimbursement for these programs.
- Collaborate with the Academic Senates to include DEIA elements in the faculty evaluation forms.
Please find the complete detailed Tentative Agreement attached.
We believe the combination of the District withdrawing its May 9th proposal, these significant salary increases, and the fact that we will be able to continue negotiating on the items listed in our initial contract proposal is a significant win for our members, especially when one considers the large budget deficit the State is currently confronting.
We will be holding three Q&A sessions via Zoom in case you have any questions regarding this settlement as follows:
3:00-4:00pm, Tuesday, May 21st
2:00-3:00pm, Wednesday, May 22nd
2:00-3:00pm, Thursday, May 23rd
The zoom link for all sessions will be: https://sdccd-edu.zoom.us/j/82201390433 As always, please feel free to email me with any questions as well.
Please check your inbox this afternoon at the same email address you received this message for a ratification ballot being sent by “AFT Guild Local 1931” <invitations@mail.electionbuddy.com>. Please note that the voting deadline will be this Friday, May 24th, at 4:00pm. Your AFT Guild Executive Council strongly recommends a “Yes” vote on this ratification.
We can’t say it enough how much we thank you all for your continued support!
In Solidarity,
Jim
