AFT Flex Week Presentations

Dear SDCCD Faculty Colleagues,

I hope this letter finds you still enjoying some summer down time!

I’m writing to let you know about some new events and workshops your union has planned for you during professional development week.

For starters, we will be holding our first ever all-faculty luncheon and meeting on Tuesday, August 17th, from 12:30-2:30 in the City College cafeteria.  All faculty from all three colleges are invited to attend.  We will be rotating this event each semester from college to college.  Come and get a great free meal, in addition to hearing the latest news regarding our local collective bargaining issues, the District and State budget situation, and our political campaign plan for the fall leading up to the November 2nd election.  And, on top of all that, earn two hours of flex credit!  Please sign up in advance for activity 59105 so we can have an accurate food count.

Immediately following the lunch meeting, we will be holding a panel discussion with your AFT site reps from each college regarding specific collective bargaining agreement (cba) concerns or questions you might have.  We will also be discussing specific provisions of the cba and benefits that you may not be readily familiar with.  (Activity 59106, 2 hours of flex credit)

Next, we will be hosting a dinner meeting specifically for our adjunct faculty.  As with the lunch meeting, all adjunct faculty from all three colleges are invited to attend, and we will also be rotating this event each semester from college to college.  This semester, it will be held in the Mesa College cafeteria on Thursday, August 19th, from 6:00-8:00pm.  Sign up now for activity 59026 and earn two hours of flex credit!

I hope you will find all of the above activities worthwhile and informative.  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to seeing all of you the week of August 16th!
