Adjunct Faculty Week of Advocacy: Friday, Oct 20 – Friday, Oct 27! (10/20/2023)

Dear AFT Guild, Local 1931 Colleagues,

In past years we have focused the last week of October on raising awareness around Adjunct Faculty issues.  Following the pandemic, our adjunct faculty have shared that they feel even more isolated with many still teaching online and their need for community is stronger than ever before.

This year, in concert with locals across the country, we will focus on ways to advocate for adjunct faculty and learn more about the fight ahead, towards a more equitable model!

Over the next week, we will:

  • share resources and information about adjunct faculty issues including 10 Ways to Be an Adjunct Faculty Accomplice
  • encourage all members to participate in a Selfie Day of Action (Thurs. 10/26)
  • spotlight adjunct faculty from each campus and share their story (see our first story below)
  • begin our campaign towards a one-tier system (more info to come!)

We hope that you will engage with this Week of Advocacy by reading the emails we send along each day and marking Thurs. 10/26 as a day to take action through our selfie campaign (details to come).  Sharing these stories and information with your colleagues and students is also encouraged!

In Solidarity,
AFT Guild, Local 1931 Part-Time Faculty Committee
