Adjunct Action Day–February 22nd

Dear SDCCD Adjunct Faculty Colleagues:

As part of AFT’s longstanding commitment to its Adjunct faculty, the following activities will be taking place to mark Adjunct Action Day on Wednesday, February 22nd:

• San Diego City College will be doing tabling from 8-4 with AFT Student Interns in front of the AH building, asking students and faculty alike to sign letters to Governor Brown calling for increased funding for office hours, and money for pay parity. We encourage faculty to come and bring signed letters, or to encourage their students to come and sign letters as well.  Please find the letter attached.

• San Diego Mesa College will be holding a rally in the quad area in front of the library from 10-11 AM. Guest speakers to include SDCCD Board Trustee Peter Zschiesche, Mesa Academic Senate President Ron Fremland, and others. We encourage faculty to come, and if possible to either come or send their students.

• San Diego Miramar College will have its annual adjunct appreciation day in room K1-107. This will be a fun event sponsored by the Miramar academic senate and the AFT. There will be food, prizes and special speakers during the event.  Social hour (food, music and prizes) will be from 12:30-1:30 pm. This will be followed by presentations from a variety of people between 2-3pm. In particular, yours truly, Jim Mahler.

Wherever you are at that day, we do hope you take part in one of these activities.  If you have any question please contact AFT Adjunct Faculty VP Geoff Johnson at gjohnson@sdccd.edu.
In Unity,
Jim
