Registered Nurses at Scripps Encinitas are protesting the hospital¹s hard line stance in contract talks that compromises the ability of the hospital to retain its most experienced RNs and recruit new nurses. After a candlelight vigil on March 10th, a one-day strike on April 14th, and continuous community pressure, hospital management still refuses to agree on a fair contract. The nurses at Scripps Encinitas stand strong and are committed to seeing their demands met at the bargaining table.
Key issues include:
… Union Shop that gives nurses the ability to be effective patient advocates
… End to subjective Merit Pay and competitive Salary Steps that eliminate pay inequities and reward long term nurses for their experience and dedication.
… A Professional Practice Committee of direct care RNs elected by their peers to meet with management on patient care issues. A PPC is standard in CNA contracts across the state.
