When Mary first ran for Chula Vista City Council in 1996 we hosted her first fundraiser. We have been impressed with her service during her eight years on the Chula Vista City Council. Mary proved to be a strong, ethical and capable leader who put the needs of her community first.
We believed in Mary because of her volunteer service as President of MANA, A National Latina Organization. Through her leadership, the organization established a mentorship program and scholarship fund that still flourish today. Her commitment to education continues. Currently we are working with Mary on two important projects. Mary and Dr. Rudy Castruita are co-chairs of the Blue Ribbon Committee for the San Diego Preschool for All implementation plan and she serves with Augie Gallego on the Blue Ribbon Committee to establish a four-year university in Chula Vista.
We hope you can attend the fundraiser we are holding on her behalf.
