Colleagues,
This morning we had the privilege to hand out 250 breakfast burritos to community members who have been affected by the devastating floods in Southeast San Diego. Working together with the Jackie Robinson YMCA and the Harvey Family Foundation we supported two food distribution hubs in areas that needed us most. We saw firsthand the extent of the damage and the significant need for volunteers and resources.
The Harvey Family Foundation is asking for at least 100 volunteers to help support community members move debris from their homes including water damaged furniture, appliances and trash. This is time sensitive as the City of San Diego will be dedicating resources to haul away these items tomorrow. If you are able to volunteer please meet at the Jackie Robinson YMCA between 7:00 and 8:00 am Saturday January 27th to check in and receive a designated location. We also need a few volunteers to help sort and organize donations onsite at the YMCA. President Shabazz often reminds us that the first word in community college is community. Let’s show our community we care!

Report to the Jackie Robinson YMCA at 151 YMCA Way, San Diego, CA 92102 by 8:00 am
Wear old shoes or rain boots (they will get muddy)
Gloves will be provided
Wear comfortable clothing
Donations needed: Items can be taken directly to the Jackie Robinson YMCA
Cleaning supplies (all kinds), trash bags, gloves, shovels, plastics tubs
Hygiene kits, toiletries and feminine hygiene products
Socks and underwear (all ages and genders)
Diapers, baby wipes and formula
