Subject: [SDICLC] Union Member Survey on California’s Transition to Clean, Renewable Energy
Dear Labor Family,
Recently, at our April meeting of the Environmental Caucus of the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council , we were joined by Adam Aron, Professor at UC San Diego and Megan Elbel, Graduate Student at UC San Diego, who presented on a program they’re developing to collect the real thoughts, concerns, and preferences of union workers in Southern California as the state transitions to renewable energy sources. Noticeably, this has been missing in most municipal and regional discussions regarding energy transitioning.
This survey can easily be taken online by our union sisters and brothers. It takes only 10 minutes to complete and awards a $10 gift certificate which can be used at most large stores. The purpose of this survey is to assist in emphasizing and amplifying the voices of union members and to provide real data to help policy makers, researchers, and stakeholders center our workforce in any policy related to California’s transition to sustainable, clean energy.
Here is the Link to take the survey: https://ssp.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3dXRXVxEnBBgGY6
The survey does not ask for names, it simply asks for an email address to send the $10 gift certificate. After that the email address is deleted.
The Environmental Caucus encourages our delegates and leadership to circulate this survey among your members to ensure that you’re represented. The more participation – the better for our members in the long run. Our goal is to get at least 200. Lastly, this UCSD research team will offer a brief presentation at our next delegate’s meeting on April 27th and will be available to take questions.
This is another opportunity for CLC delegates to be informed and engage on labor’s role in advocating for tangible solutions to the climate crisis that simultaneously strengthen our middle-class. For more information, please reach out to the Chair of our Environmental Caucus, Rick Bates, at 619-309-6770 or rbates@unitehere.org.
