The Schools and Communities First ballot measure petitions are out and your AFT Guild, Local 1931 is part of the statewide campaign to get this measure qualified for the November, 2020 ballot.
The Schools and Communities First measure would bring in $12 billion dollars a year for K-12 schools, community colleges, and local communities by closing the corporate property tax loophole. This measure protects all homeowners, renters, small business owners, and agricultural land while leveling the playing field between huge corporate interests and small businesses.
Schools and Communities First ensures that education and community services get the resources they need by assuring that California’s largest corporations pay their fair share of taxes. With the revenue from Proposition 55 soon set to expire, this much needed reform will assure that we can invest in our schools and build a better future for all of us. We could use your help in our signature gathering campaign! In past campaigns, we have been #1 in the state out of CFT locals in terms of the number of signatures gathered, so let’s make sure we retain our top spot! If you would like us to send you petitions that you can use with your students*, friends, and family members, please reply to this email and let me know:
1) How many petitions to send you (each petition has nine signatures per page, all signatories per individual petition must be registered to vote in the same county).
2) Your campus mail code or mail box location.
