Dear Colleagues,
Once again, on the last day allowed by law to veto a bill, the second governor in a row has vetoed our CFT-sponsored paid maternity leave bill. The Governor’s veto message is attached.
We invested a considerable amount of time and energy on this bill during the past year, and you all helped out tremendously by providing your testimonies and by sending thousands of letters of support to the Governor.
Although stymied again, our fight to correct this fundamental injustice is far from over. We will re-group and re-strategize in order to determine our most effective path forward.
