Labor and Politics (Labor Studies 108, CRN 86535) covers the evolution of the Labor Movement and its ongoing relationship with politics, including labor’s involvement with political campaigns, elections, and Political Action Committees.  The course will also explore tactics employed by the Labor Movement that helped to create pro-worker legislation, the organization of workers, and profound social change.  Contemporary issues, such as the Employee Free Choice Act will be discussed.   This course is intended for anyone interested in the sociological aspects of the labor movement and/or those who are employees/union members who are in or working toward leadership roles in their workplace or unions.
