DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, \n  \nFor those of you looking to participate in the upcoming “A Day Without A Woman” strike\, organizers of the Women’s March on Washington have released additional information on how to observe the day. \nThree action items are listed on the Women’s March website for “anyone\, anywhere\,” including: \n\nWomen take the day off work.\n\n\nExclusively shop at “small\, women- and minority-owned businesses.”\n\n\nWear red “in solidarity.”\n\nThe strike is scheduled for International Women’s Day\, March 8\, and is meant to recognize “the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socioeconomic system\, while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities\, vulnerability to discrimination\, sexual harassment and job insecurity\,” according to the Women’s March website. \nThe concept and date were announced via social media earlier in February\, and the Women’s March website says it “supports the feminists of color and grass-roots groups organizing the International Women’s Strike.” \n“We saw what happened when millions of us stood together in January\, and now we know that our army of love greatly outnumbers the army of fear\, greed and hatred\,” said an Instagram post on February 14 from the official Women’s March account. “On March 8\, International Women’s Day\, let’s unite again in our communities for ‘A Day Without A Woman.'” \n  \nThe Women’s March on Washington took place the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration and more than 1 million people took part across the country. DESCRIPTION:Dear AFT Guild Members: \nThe 75th Annual Convention of the California Federation of Teachers will be held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento\, commencing Friday\, March 31st\, 2017 at 10:00 AM and continuing through Sunday\, April 2nd\, 2017 until 1:00 PM. \nAll AFT Guild members in good standing are eligible to be nominated to serve as a delegate to the convention.  To be nominated\, you will need to solicit the signatures of ten (10) other AFT Guild members in good standing.  A nominating petition is attached.  It must be completed and mailed or faxed (619-640-1154) to the AFT Guild office and received no later than 4:00pm\, Wednesday\, March 15th\, 2017. \nYou are responsible for booking your own airfare and hotel reservations.  The attached nominating petitions describes the Guild’s reimbursement policy for delegates. \nBe sure to complete your committee choice selection no later than March 17th.  For more information regarding the CFT Convention program\, please visit cft.org/governance/convention. \nPlease do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.\nIn Unity\, \nJim \nJim Mahler\, President \nAFT Guild\, Local 1931

SUMMARY:Bi-national U.S.-Mexico Labor Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 17th at 2 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA delegation of labor unionists and activists from across Mexico will be joining with labor unionists and community activists from San Diego. \nThe purpose of this historic bi-national gathering is to discuss how to build cross-border solidarity and to coordinate a plan of action to resist the policies of Trump and their impact on both sides of the border. \nThese include the defense of immigrants and international workers\, opposition to the border wall and further militarization\, opposition to the North American Free Trade Agreement and further privatization\, defense of union rights and more. \nJoin us as we launch a bi-national labor coalition to plan and coordinate protests and other actions to oppose the attacks on immigrants and labor\, and to create a campaign for cross-border labor solidarity to counter the racism\, xenophobia\, and chauvinism of Trump and the Right. \nParticipants will include union activists from various regions in Mexico and southern California.\nSaturday\, June 17th at 2pm
