Paid AFT Student Internship Opportunities

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Please let your students know about the following opportunity.AFT paid internship positions available!   

Interested in learning about workers rights, labor and social justice?  Would you like to help your fellow students and community members learn more about the struggle for economic justice and dignity in the workplace?  Want to do activist work with AFT, other unions, and community groups?  Maybe an AFT internship is right for you!

Qualifications:

•  Available for 5 hours a week to be determined as needed but your availability must be during during the week in daytime hours.  We are looking for a two semester commitment.
•  Community college student in the Grossmont-Cuyamaca  or San Diego Community College District willing to meet and work at any campus, the AFT office, and other sites in the county.
•  Able to attend regular Monday afternoon meetings at 3:00 pm  at the AFT office.   Your schedule will be worked out based on your availability but you must be available for 5 hours a week including the meetings.
•  Articulate, detail-oriented, and willing to do in-class presentations.
• Must enroll in one of the Labor Studies courses during Fall of 2014 at City College (Labor Studies 100: American Labor Movement on Tuesdays at 6:55-10:00 OR Labor Studies 102: Labor Law on Thursdays from 6:55-10:00) .  All resident tuition fees and books will be reimbursed by AFT Local 1931.
•  Reliable transportation.
