Alternative Ideas for 2016 Economic Improvements

Dear Colleagues,
It is that time of year where we need to hear from you regarding what types of economic improvements you would like to see allocated effective January 2016 from our Resource Allocation Formula (RAF).

Although we have not yet finalized the analysis of precisely how much will be available from our RAF calculations (which includes paying for healthcare increases, PERS/STRS increases, step and column advances, etc.) this should be one of the better years in a long time regarding the availability of economic resources. This amount of money can potentially be applied in a number of different ways in addition to a general salary increase, for example: increasing the percentage between or adding extra steps to the salary schedule or funding other special projects. These are just some possible examples. It’s up to us to decide how we want to spend these available resources.

If you have an idea of where you would like to see us allocate our resources outside of a general salary increase, please send me your idea. Note: You don’t need to send me messages which basically say “Give me more money,” or “I want a pay increase.” We get that. We are looking for other ideas we may not have considered.

We will then compile everyone’s suggestions and prioritize them for our negotiations. At the conclusion of negotiations everyone will have a chance to vote to ratify the final package.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this process.
In Unity,
Jim
