Several of you have inquired about what exactly was meant by the administration wanting to "opt-out" of certain faculty evaluations.
Here is the exact contract language they are seeking: "For evaluation of second and third year probationary faculty members, participation of the manager or designee in the performance observations and/or letter of appraisal is at the option of the manager of designee."
The Guild's position has been, if the District wants to remove management from participating in all of these types of evaluations, we can agree to that, but we're not going to allow them to pick and choose which ones they opt out of.
