Living Wage Live
Show Your Support! Join Hundreds Tomorrow at Golden
Hall!
Due
to the overwhelming support of living wage, City Council has moved the
hearing to Golden Hall. This is expected to be the most well-attended City
Council hearing of the year! But, it's a large place and we want to pack
Golden Hall - please attend the
hearing tomorrow! In fact,
take the afternoon and join us for a rally and prayer vigil starting at
12:30!
Tomorrow's Schedule
Living Wage Rally at
12:30 in Civic Center Plaza - look for music, signs and hundreds of
people!
Prayer Vigil at 1:30 hosted by the Interfaith Committee for Worker
Justice.
Just before we head into the hearing, some
of San Diego's most important religious leaders will pray for justice to
take place in our beautiful City. The religious community has been a vocal
and ardent supporter of the proposal to lift thousands of hard working
families out of poverty.
Living Wage Hearing at 2:00 in Golden Hall
Golden
Hall is located in Civic Center Plaza. No need to change your parking
plans, just follow the large crowds into the building and take a seat as
close to the front as possible. We want the City Council to see our faces
when they discuss this important issue!
Voice of San Diego Publishes Living Wage Article
The Voice of San Diego is a new online media outlet in San Diego.
VOSD has established a core group of influential contributing editors
allowing for great public discourse on some of San Diego's most important
issues. Today, they published some thoughts from Donald Cohen on the
living wage proposal. You can read them at http://www.voiceofsandiego.org. Look for the
article titled "Becoming a World Class City". Also, if you're

A Little About the Legislative Process
According to law, all proposals must be read twice and voted on
twice. Tomorrow's City Council hearing is important, because the first
vote is the most important. However, there will be at least one more
hearing in the near future before living wage can become law.
As much as we'd like to see a 'yes' vote tomorrow, we are
also aware that the hearing may be continued because of time constraints.
Don't be disappointed if this happens - it's not a 'no' vote, it simply
means we will continue to work hard until living wage becomes
law!
